01 — Overview
Most approvals stall because the approver never opens the app. With Slack connected, a Chamfer app or Job can post a request to a person or channel with the details and two buttons. The approver taps Approve or Decline in Slack, and the decision flows back to the app, with their name and the time in the Logbook.
The Bench can add Slack steps from a sentence, such as “post any Stop fault to #control-room” or “ask the finance lead to approve refunds over $500”. Messages can include tables, a short summary and a link back to the record. Chamfer checks that the person clicking a button in Slack is allowed to approve, using your SSO identity, so a forwarded message can’t be used to approve anything. Requests that sit too long can remind the approver, then move to a backup.
